Incandescent Flamingos And Giant Seagulls To Descend On Princesshay Square

Date of Event: 11/08/2007 - 12/08/2007

As shoppers indulge in Bedford Street’s fine array of restaurants, cafes and shops, they will have the opportunity to enjoy elf-ridden flamingos, giant seagulls poking and a musically gifted giant dragon.

Here are some of the treats in store for shoppers this weekend in Bedford Street, Exeter:

Saturday 11 August – 11.30am to 3.00pm

Incandescent Flamingos

These comic stilt characters are guaranteed to be a highlight. Shockingly pink, flighty flamingos ridden by excited and troublesome elves bring the world of fantasy alive, never failing to entertain the crowds.

Madame Ovary and Cecily Bumtrinket

With an air of mystique, two lavishly dressed 18th century powdered-wigged women will divulge court gossip behind their golden fans, polish bald mens' heads with their powder puffs and generously bestow fellow ladies with beauty spots.  They have a keen eye for eligible gentlemen and are ever ready for a dangerous liaison!

The Jelly Roller Dragon

This beautifully crafted 12ft tall wooden dragon will be a superb hand cranked musical centrepiece, flapping its wings as its dulcet tones intrigue young and old.

Sunday 12 August – 11.30am to 3.00pm

The Seagulls

In addition to Madame Ovary and Cecilly Buntrinket and the Jelly Roller Dragon returning to Princesshay, Sunday will also bring a rather more mischievous combination of giant seagulls (far more loveable than the real things of course!) Creating fun and chaos in their wake, as they squabble amongst themselves and interact with shoppers, they are sure to be a great hit.
