Potter About in Princesshay Square
Date of Event: 26/07/2007 - 27/07/2007
Bedford Street Exeter, brings alive the magic of Harry Potter with two days of entertainment and look-a-like visits. Magical events for children will be taking place in Princesshay Square on 26 and 27 July from 11am to 3pm.
Dumbledare, a dead ringer for Hogwart’s head teacher Dumbledore and a Harry Potter look-a-like will be flying into Exeter
on Thursday 26 July. The characters will be mixing and mingling with Exeter muggles between 11am and 3pm.
The magic continues on Friday 27 July with an impromptu class in all things magical. Children will have a chance to learn
spells and take part in the ‘School of Magic’ shows. Hogwarts will be teaching three sessions in the Princesshay shopping
quarter at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3.00pm and stilt walking wizard Mad Dominic will also be joining the fun!
Mini muggles can join the team at Hogwarts at 3.30pm on Friday 27 July and enter the fancy dress competition to dress up as
their favourite character from the books. There will be special prizes for the best look-a-likes and most original outfits
and props. Why not dress up as heroic Harry or malevolent Malfoy?
Sally Henley, Princesshay Centre Manager said, ‘With JK Rowling studying at Exeter University there are already lots of connections
between the city and the Harry Potter books. We thought it would be fun to bring the Harry Potter tales alive for families
and that the Princesshay setting of ancient and modern makes the perfect backdrop.’
