Design a Vine
Date: 6 Nov 2008
PRINCESSHAY AND EXETER NORTHCOTT INVITE LOCAL CHILDREN TO DESIGN A VINE FOR THE CITY’S SLEEPING BEAUTY PANTO
On Thursday 30th October, during half term week, the Princesshay shopping quarter will host a mini arts carnival as part of
Classic FM’s Arts & Kids Week, a national campaign led by Children & the Arts to encourage children and their families to
get involved in the arts.
Local children will be invited to come and embrace their imaginative sides at the Princesshay shopping quarter and create
a leaf for a colourful vine that will be displayed in the foyer of the Exeter Northcott, during the performance of The Sleeping
Beauty this Christmas.
The event will be located at the bottom of Bedford Street in Princesshay, outside Neal’s Yard Remedies, between 11am and 4pm
on Thursday 30th October.
The ‘design a vine’ event is the culmination of Princesshay’s Create-a-Quest project. Devised by The Prince’s Foundation for
Children & the Arts and supported by Land Securities and Princesshay in Exeter, Create-a-Quest is a national programme designed
to introduce children to the magic of the arts. It also links 16 arts organisations with 16 shopping centres from across the
UK and will involve 4,000 primary school children in the arts.
Emma McLeod, Princesshay Marketing Manager said, “By working together, The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts, Exeter
Northcott and Princesshay aim to help local children enjoy themselves while learning more about the arts. We’re really looking
forward to hosting our fun event in the October half term and would encourage all local children to come and get involved.”
More see over…
St Leonards Primary School, Wynstream School, Clyst St Mary Primary School and Alphington Primary School in Exeter have all
started their new terms by working on the national arts project in partnership with Exeter Northcott.
Pupils aged from 9-11 who have had little arts provision prior to this project, will benefit from visits and workshops led by creative practitioners.
