LAND SECURITIES RAISE £60,000 FOR EXETER CATHEDRAL’S THIRD MILLENNIUM FUND

The Princesshay developer, Land Securities has raised an incredible £60,000 for the Exeter Cathedral’s Third Millennium fund following the success of the recent Summer Ball, held in the stunning Bishop’s Palace Gardens. After donating £20,000 when Princesshay first launched in September, this latest event has helped bring the total amount raised by Land Securities to over £80,000.

This fantastic sum of money will contribute towards Exeter Cathedral’s music foundation trust, which supports choristers through their professional careers at the school, bringing on their exceptional talents and placing music as an integral part of their lives.

Exeter Cathedral School is dedicated to safeguarding the 11th century tradition of choral music and this latest gesture of support from Land Securities ensures that young talent from Exeter and the county continue to excel in their musical careers and education.

Located in the centre of Exeter, the Cathedral formed the spectacular backdrop for the exclusive event where guests at the Summer Ball were treated to a rare opportunity of dining in the beautiful gardens.

The sensational evening event featured a glittering champagne reception, a seasonal meal featuring the finest local produce from Dartmoor Kitchen and live music from the legendary Chip Shop Boys. Honoured guests were also treated to a themed cocktail created especially to celebrate the occasion, courtesy of Monkey Bars and BBC Radio Devon presenter Judi Spiers hosted an entertaining auction of fabulous prizes.

The Very Reverend Jonathan Meyrick, Dean of Exeter said, “The Third Millennium Campaign was launched to ensure the future of one of the oldest and most beautiful Cathedral’s in England. The Summer Ball was an event inspired by Land Securities and its support for the musical element of the Cathedral’s Campaign, following the opening of Princesshay last September and we’re absolutely delighted with this magnificent donation.”

As a result of this partnership between Land Securities and the Cathedral’s Third Millennium Campaign an Arts and Business investment award was granted. This extra money has enabled the Cathedral to produce additional literature, helping to promote the Cathedral as a place of musical excellence and providing greater business benefits as a result.
