CARLUCCIO’S SWITCHES OFF FOR EARTH HOUR

Date: 16 Mar 2010

On Saturday 27th March 2010, Carluccio’s will unite with millions of people and businesses around the world to support WWF’s Earth Hour and help draw attention to the urgent need to tackle climate change.

From 8.30pm – 9.30pm, Carluccio’s caffès across the UK will show their support for this vital campaign by switching off all non-essential lighting and replacing it with candles, treating diners to a particularly romantic evening. *

Last year over 1,500 cities in over 80 countries took part in Earth Hour. This year 91 countries have already pledged their involvement and Carluccio’s will join with iconic landmarks such as Piccadilly Circus, The London Eye and The Royal Albert Hall.

David Nussbaum, WWF-UK CEO commented – “Climate change is one of the most serious threats facing people and nature, and demands urgent global action. Businesses have a key role to play in the fight against climate change – both in terms of prevention and adapting to its worst impacts. The support from businesses like Carluccio’s for Earth Hour proves that, even in tough economic times, the appetite for change among the private sector is there.”
