A WEEKEND OF ROMANCE, ACTION AND PRIZES NOT TO BE

Date: 4 Feb 2008

Shoppers are in for treat this weekend (Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th February) at the Princesshay Quarter in Exeter, as two exceptional events are taking place.

On Saturday 9th February, love will be on the cards as Princesshay retailers celebrate Valentines Day by giving away £1000 of romantic gifts displayed in Roman Walk next to a sculpted heart of ice! Beautifully attired Princesshay Princesses will wander through the prestigious shopping quarter handing visitors lucky playing cards, which they can take to the ice heart displayed in Roman Walk. At the display, shoppers will be able to instantly find out if they’ve won a prize as well as being entered into a free draw to win all the heart melting prizes!

A few of the incredible prizes up for grabs from Princesshay retailers include a state of the art Pink Blackberry Pearl smart phone worth nearly £300 from Carphone warehouse, one of the seasons must-have designer bags from AH Moda, a romantic meal for two at La Tasca and a diamond heart pendant from Beaverbrooks.

Emma McLeod, Princesshay Marketing Manager “This weekend is expected to be a lot of fun for our shoppers. We’ve got some fantastic and romantic prizes up for grabs on Saturday and an amazing ice sculpture located in Roman Walk.”

The second half of the weekend will see Princesshay hosting a charity abseil to raise money for the West of England School and College for young people with little or no sight. The event will start at 9am with the first abseil at 10am on Sunday 10th February where thrill seeking individuals can abseil off the top of the Princesshay car park in front of the majestic Copper Oak tree in Southernhay.

Anyone wishing to take part will be asked to pay a £15.00 entry fee as well as raising £75.00 in sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues or peers.

The aim of the event is to involve lots of local people from the community, while helping raise the profile of the vital work of the West of England School and College. Fat Face, who have their largest UK store in Princesshay are sponsoring the charity abseil event with World Champion Climber and Fat Face Team rider Steve McClure, taking part as well as presenting his new DVD ‘Pysche’, for free in the store at 4pm.

Tracy de Bernhardt Dunkin, Principal and CEO of the West of England School and College said, “We’re really excited about this event and delighted that Princesshay offered to host the abseil. The day promises to be nerve racking but thrilling and we hope to raise vital funds for the charity.”

Jonathan Mahy, one of the pupils at the School and College is taking part in the abseil to raise money for the school. Jonathan is visually impaired and today said “I am really excited, it’s so cool to be doing the abseil and it’s going to be great fun.”

Emma McLeod, Princesshay Marketing Manager adds, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to help raise the profile of local charities, like the West of England School, by supporting their events and initiatives. The abseil is set to be another exciting event for Princesshay visitors and shoppers to enjoy, on what promises to be an action packed weekend for the Quarter.”
