Princesshay, the much-acclaimed shopping quarter in the heart of Exeter, developed by Land Securities in partnership with Exeter City Council, has been named
Shopping Location of the Year at the recent prestigious Retail Week awards in London.
The illustrious Retail Week awards took place on Thursday 13th March 2008 at the legendary Grosvenor House Hotel. Over 1,700 of the industry’s finest gathered for the Oscars of the retail world to discover who would win the 16 sought-after awards presented by top comedian Rob Brydon.
The Princesshay development in Exeter was reported as having transformed retailing in the Devon city and according to the judges was everything a modern shopping development should be. The open-air streetscape design was praised for its ‘stunning’ architecture, for the quality of retailers it has attracted and for its success in pulling in shoppers.

The Retail Week awards are renowned throughout the industry and the team at Princesshay are thrilled that Exeter’s well-designed and innovative scheme has been recognised with this coveted award.”
Since launching 12 years ago, the Retail Week Awards have grown to become the biggest and most prestigious event in the industry calendar. The awards attract the best-known names in the sector, and there is no greater accolade in the retail industry than to win one of the coveted trophies.
