HOSPISCARE RAISES £3,788.50 IN JUST 12 MONTHS

Date: 2 Feb 2012

A partnership between Princesshay and Exeter-based charity Hospiscare has raised £3778.50 - in just 12 months.
Hospiscare was selected as Princesshay’s official charity for 2011 and benefitted from a whole host of events throughout the year.
These included a fashion show and ‘Taste Princesshay’, a two-day extravaganza which saw the shopping centre’s main square transformed into a foodie heaven boasting a professional cookery theatre and demonstrations by celebrity chefs.
Suzanne Rushforth, Hospiscare’s Corporate Relations Manager, said: “It’s been fantastic to work with the Princesshay team for the past year.
“Not only has the partnership generated much-needed funds from the initiatives and events we have staged together, it has also helped us to raise our profile locally through talking to those taking part and to shoppers.
“The fashion show, last September, was a highlight as our complementary therapists were able to join Princesshay’s beauty lounge offering free massages.
“They were also able to provide information on the wide range of services the hospice offers to the local families we care for, enabling patients to make the most of the final chapters of their lives.”
As well as the Taste Princesshay event, last summer, Hospiscare also benefitted from the shopping centre’s Christmas lights switch-on and individual retailer events at The Cove and LK Bennett.
And, last spring, Princesshay’s Centre Management team spent a day at the hospice helping with gardening and outdoor maintenance.
Wayne Pearce, Princesshay Centre Director said, “It’s been a privilege to support such a worthy local charity and we’re thrilled that the partnership has resulted in raising a substantial sum.
“We’re always keen to work with local groups and charities to raise awareness of the work they do in Exeter and the surrounding communities and look forward to supporting Hospiscare in the future.”
Princesshay is currently meeting with four local charities to select a new official charity partner for 2012.
Meanwhile, Hospiscare, which is celebrating its 30th year, has launched a brand new event for 2012 specifically aimed at men. The Hospiscare Men’s Walk will take place on Saturday 17th March at 1pm starting at Sandy Park, home of the Exeter Chiefs. Participants will walk 10k before heading back to the stadium to enjoy a pint, a pasty and the England v Ireland Six Nations rugby match. The entry fee is £10 (before 1st February) and every participant will be encouraged to raise sponsorship. Shoppers will be able to find out more in Princesshay on Saturday 4th February when the Hospiscare team will be on site giving out information and encouraging men to sign up!

COFFEE 1 COMES TO PRINCESSHAY

Date: 2 Feb 2012

Coffee1 Opens New Exeter Store in Princesshay
Coffee1 is thrilled to have opened a brand new store in Exeter’s Princesshay shopping centre.
You’ll find them nestled by the Roman wall in Princesshay (close to Chandos Deli) with ethical, organic Arabica coffee, comfy leather armchairs, reclaimed furniture and a spoonful of warm rustic charm.
Speaking on behalf of Coffee 1, James Shapland says “We’re delighted to bring our unique blend of gourmet coffee deeper into the heart of the West Country. We’ve found Exeter to be a friendly city and we hope our new store will provide a restful retreat amidst the busy city centre, and a pit-stop for those grabbing a dose of quality caffeine on the go.”
Princesshay, Exeter marks the coffee brands sixteenth location. The first ever Coffee1 opened in Cardiff, just over ten years ago, and they’ve been serving the coffee-loving citizens of Wales and South West England ever since, gaining two BSA awards and winning the Cafe Society’s Best UK Coffee Chain three years running.
The new Coffee1 in Princesshay has taken on and trained up six keen baristas from the local area and looks forward to settling into the community.
Wayne Pearce, Princesshay Centre Director said, “We welcome the arrival of Coffee 1 on Roman Walk in Princesshay providing another great location for shoppers and workers from the local business district to stop off and enjoy a well deserved and lovingly made drink and snack.”
Over the years, Coffee1 has earned itself a reputation as the coffee purists’ coffee house – loved for their friendly skilled baristas, artisan coffee and welcoming atmosphere. The new coffee house in Princesshay will feature a large ‘Community Table’, the perfect place for coffee-lovers to converse, local gossip to be shared and new friendships to be made.
The Coffee1 team struck upon a perfect recipe of carefully crafted coffee and sumptuous snacks served up in cosy coffee houses with lashings of character and cheer. So pop in and warm up on a wintery morning with porridge, buttery teacakes and breakfast baps, a steamy slice of apple pie in the afternoon or protect, boost and cleanse your body with some freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable ‘Super Juices’..
Coffee1 is located on Roman Walk in Princesshay and will be open from 9.30am – 6.00pm Monday
